What is Sprains and Strains?

Strains and sprains are injuries to the soft tissues of the body. Strains involve muscles or tendons (thick bands that attach muscles to bone). Strains often occur in the back, the hamstring, or the groin. Sprains are injuries to the ligaments, which are bands of cartilage that attach bone to bone.

Causes

Physiotherapists helps to encourage development and facilitate recovery, enabling people to stay in work while helping them to remain independent for as long as possible.
Most sports injuries, such as sprains or strains, are caused by minor trauma. Sprains are ligament injuries resulting from wrenching or twisting a joint. Strains are injuries to a muscle or tendon, and are often caused by overuse, force, or stretching.
